I hope you are well and had a fab Christmas! I had a fab time, and now having a few days of ‘lean and green’ foods only to give my body a chance to
recover! Yes, I indulged and enjoyed plenty of champagne!
No need for drastic detox plans, although you might be feeling like doing the ‘Lemon Juice Detox‘ (I saw an ad in a yoga mag shortly after Christmas Lunch and was tempted!) but it is the ‘all or nothing’ mentality that causes us both to over-do things at this time of year, and over-compensate in the New Year, which is often why our resolutions can be so, well, transient!
And check out some reasons why the ‘marketing’ of the ‘Lemon Juice Detox‘ is not all it seems: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/colon-cleanse-scam/
Instead of such drastic approaches, set yourself goals for the entire year, commit to incremental and long lasting tweaks to your nutrition and a solid training programme, rather than a short-lived ‘all or nothing’ style approach.
For the most comprehensive and life-changing ‘goal getting’ approach on the planet, check out my mentor, Dax Moy’s ‘Magic Hundred‘. Not only will you acheive your weight loss goals, but you will acheive most of the things you have currently filed in the ‘back of your mind’ to do ‘when you get the time’!
So here’s a run down of some resources I reccomend you to check out in 2010:
NUTRITION:
Isabel De Los Rios’ ‘Diet Solution Program‘ is widely considered one of the most healthful, sustainable yet effective fat loss programs out there. Basically, as you have heard many times over ‘dieting makes you fat’. But you need to know which foods to eat and when to maximise your results. Promising 3-10 lb in the first week, with a consistent fat loss after that, it is well worth checking out. She is also giving out a free 2 week plan: “14 Days to a Sexy New Body in 2010″ – Drop Ugly Fat in 2 weeks Flat.
Please check out her video, that explains why those ‘pseudo healthy’ foods are the enemy – and butter, sweet potatoes and avocadoes are your friends!
I also recommend you check out Mark Sisson’s Primal Blueprint
. His blog, Mark’s Daily Apple, is one of the only I subscribe to, as it is choc-ful of ‘real’ heathy living advice as well as full of some seriously fab recipes!!
TRAINING:
The free workout they give you alone will help you take your home training out of a rut and into results!

Another great way to jazz up indoor / home workouts is the versatile and portable TRX – my kettlebells stayed at home this Christmas but the TRX enabled me to have a fab and effective Christmas morning workout, and got a workout in each day I was away without having weigh the car down too much! I got mine from Fitness Anywhere, and also downloaded the Surf Stronger workout – you don’t need to be a surfer to benefit and you guys will enjoy working out with a pro Surfer girl I’m sure!
And of course, if you are the proud owner of a kettlebell, and have not yet checked out my KettleBelleBody programme, then you are missing out! There are multiple training programmes, enough to keep you going well into 2011, in fact! You get a Nutrition Guide, Goal Setting & Motivation and a daily Yoga Flow sequence, as well as loads of great bonuses. Check it out (it’s not just for girls, either, if the guys amongst you want to up the ante for your New Year Kettlebell action!
My other Kettlebell recommendation for you, is Mike Mahler. He has a new DVD out, from his recent ‘Age of the Quarrel’ Course, which I haven’t got myself yet but sounds awesome. I have the Collision Course DVD set and it really is amazing – sections on bodyweight training, hormonal optimisation, rope training as well as, of course, kettlebell training. I recommend you check out his site, and sign up to his newsletter, a really great read every month.
